Based on her observation of shadows reflected in the earth, the artist spent many months perfecting a technique that allows objects to be represented in two dimensions onto canvas. The object becomes a representation of its own, and the canvas carries an interpretation by painting of the object. This is especially true when it is a living item or something perishable, such as fruit or people. Alexa Meade's painting style, that is extremely ephemeral nature, is apparent. The only piece of Alexa's art that survives is her photograph. Trompe-l'oeil art is created by combining the two techniques of photography and painting. This creates two-dimensional flattened picture. Meade will sometimes integrate her painting into the three-dimensional surroundings around it and allows the model to be a part of the world of their own. The lines between performance, installation, photography and painting can be dissolved.
